Ipswich
Ipswich is England’s oldest continuously settled Anglo-Saxon town and has medieval streets and architectural gems to charm everyone. Twelve medieval churches stand testimony to the importance of the town as it developed in the Middle Ages. Then there’s the wide green open spaces - Christchurch Park with its Tudor mansion in the town centre, Holywells and Chantry parks and the verdant beauty of the Orwell Country Park with its stunning views of the Orwell estuary.
However, Ipswich is also set firmly in the present. The Waterfront is undergoing the most exciting renaissance in the East of England and one of its top attractions is a cruise down river on the Orwell Lady. Stop awhile in one of the waterside restaurants and take in the view.
Nearby is Cardinal Park with its non-stop nightlife, cinema and restaurant facilities. Ipswich night and day are two different experiences. Shop till you drop in the excellent retail centre and stay on, take in a film see a show at The Regent or a play at the New Wolsey or Sir John Mills theatres and then finish it off with a meal at one of Ipswich’s cosmopolitan restaurants.
