Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire is a County of contrasts, with a variety of enticing things to see and do and places to visit. The County's towns and cities are steeped in history, and have evolved over centuries.
Cambridge is a university city of old streets, ancient colleges and lovely bridges spanning the River Cam and Ely has a magnificent Norman cathedral and Huntingdon was the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. Wisbech, in the Fens, has fine examples of Georgian Street architecture. Throughout the County, there is an abundance of historic houses each with beautiful gardens. Cambridgeshire's unspoilt countryside is ripe for exploring. The peat-black Fens reclaimed from their natural marsh state are criss-crossed by rivers and drainage channels and blessed by glorious sunsets. The Nene and Ouse Valleys have lovely honey-coloured stone villages nesting in the undulating hills and along the riversides.
